St Mary's College MD
I grew up in Columbia, MD, where I attended public schools
until I left for college. I am currently entering my senior year at St. Mary’s
College of Maryland, which is a small liberal arts school on the St. Mary’s
River in Southern Maryland. I am double majoring in English and physics – a
combination born out of a long interest in reading and writing and a
relatively new interest in physics, mainly astrophysics.
.
My passion for all things astronomy-related began during my freshman
year of college, when I enrolled in an astronomy class. I soon became
fascinated with things I had never contemplated before, like black holes, dark
matter, and the Big Bang. As a physics student, I take delight in theories
that contradict intuition and force me to bend my mind, especially theories
related to cosmology, relativity, and quantum mechanics. I hope to use my
degrees in teaching, researching, and/or writing fields.
When I am not juggling English papers and physics problems, I enjoy
dropping pumpkins and eggs off of campus buildings with my school’s Physics
Club. I am also involved in my school’s Catholic ministry, and I sing and play
the violin at campus Mass. I love to travel, and after spending a semester
abroad in Wales, I am looking forward to setting foot in Wyoming.
