I was homeschooled for twelve years because the school where I grew up in rural Hollytree, Alabama, wasn’t very good.
I took a couple of classes a semester at the University of Alabama in Huntsville starting my junior year of high school.
Now I’m a sophomore at Rice working towards a B.S. in astrophysics.
Right now my scientific interests aren’t very well defined
– mostly anything in the realm of astronomy/astrophysics sounds interesting.
The life cycles of stars, black holes, and the beginning and end of the universe are the most interesting.
I’m in Naval ROTC at Rice and hope to go into the nuclear power community in the Navy after graduation and before continuing my education.
My favorite pastimes include attending fine arts events (choral or symphony concerts, operas, musicals, plays, ballets, etc.),
watching Rice baseball (go Owls!), knitting, hiking/being in the great outdoors, which I don’t get very much of in Houston,
and reading for fun when I have the time. I’m also very active in the Episcopal Church.
