Walter Trentadue
I have been interested in astronomy
since I was about 8 years old. I started working at the Adler
Planetarium in Chicago when I finished high school, and it is
here that I began learning about optics, and started making my
own telescopes. I served on the Board of Directors for the Chicago
Astronomical Society from 1993-1997, and was Astrofest Vice-Chairman
from 1996-2002. Astrofest is the third largest amateur astronomy
star party in the U.S.
I am currently attending Northeastern
Illinois University, Governors State University, and Wright College,
in Chicago, IL, working on my BA in NEIU's Board of Governors
program. I have been running public observing programs in astronomy
in the Galena, IL area for the last two years, and last year formed
the Galena Astronomical Society. I work as a police officer in
Skokie, IL a suburb north of Chicago, in addition to my roles
as a DARE Instructor, and (mountain) bike patrol officer. After
receiving my B.A., I plan on entering a Ph.D. program in astronomy.
